ASSIGNMENT 3: Reflection

Reflection:

For the reflection component of this course, I would choose assignment of fuel tank to reflect my thinking.
When we were doing this assignment, we were doing our architectural assignment as well. So, time is a bit rushed to do this assignment.

I think the most difficult point of this assignment is that this assignment is unlike with the assignment. For the assignment 1, tutor will tell you much of skills to create the model. And there are some tutorial videos to teach us how to make the model. We can watch the video and step by step to make the model easily.
However, for this assignment, we need to build up the rhino model and laser cutting model, and according to the laser cutting model to use skills that we learnt from the assignment 1 to build this metal model.

The use of English wheel in this assignment.
I have to say the English wheel is my favorite tool to build the shape of model and smooth the metal.

To just look the laser cutting model to do our model is hard to know if the shape of our model is fit with the laser cutting model. So, we used the Tape to make an “shield” for the laser cutting model. Therefore, we can just use built shape on the laser cutting model.

There also is one thing we weren’t do for this assignment
We didn’t have time to polish our project, it is make our project didn’t look that good.

APPLICATION WITHIN MY DISCIPLINE:

Through the learning of the course, which inspired me to translate what I learnt from this course to my discipline.
To talk about the architectural material, we would firstly think about the timber, brick and concrete. The metal is always ignored by us. The metal is flexible and solid material, it is a really good material to create the organic and beautiful architecture. And the metal also is used be material of a lots of beautiful architecture. I will try to use the metal be the material for architectural design in my further studies.
